Every year, the Congresswoman from Guam, Representative Madeleine Bordallo, hosts the Liberation of Guam celebration in one of the House office buildings. Along with free food and live entertainment, the party is filled with political star sightings and lots of dancing.
When I found out about the party last summer, I decided to check it out. No one was interested in going with me, so I went alone. I ended up having a phenomenal time and met some new people – I even did the electric slide with the Congresswoman! At the end of the night, I could not stop thinking that those three hours spent on the Hill were three of the best hours of my time in DC. This time around, I raved about the party to anyone who would listen to me. Sure enough, I got people interested in coming along and set their expectations quite high. Luckily, they were not disappointed. We all had such a great time, enjoying the crowded reception hall with the variety of Guamanian food on our plates and then learning different line dances with the Guamanian community. Hafa Adai!
