Though I grew up in California, I am ashamed to say that I never went wine tasting in Napa Valley. For a friend’s birthday, however, I was able to go to the vineyards of Northern Virginia to try it out for the first time. I can encapsulate my experience in three words: I loved it!
Five of us ladies went to two wineries in Loudon County, Virginia after driving through some absolutely stunning scenery. Both had a fantastic variety of wines. Even though I know next to nothing about the differences (other than the difference between white wine and red wine!), I enjoyed sampling everything.
In between our wine tasting excursion, we were able to have a beautiful picnic by the lake. Each of us contributed to the most delicious spread of fruits and dip, hummus and pita chips, bread and cheese, and light desserts. My mouth still waters when I think about how delicious everything was with the rose wine we purchased!
I do have another confession to make, though. I made the huge mistake of not taking any home with me. I guess that means I’ll have to go back sometime soon! Anyone want to join in?
