Hello! I’m Casey. This is my little blog about life as a twenty-something serving to connect people, my journey as a pageant girl and supporter of our troops, and some fun things I find along the way.
So the basics: I’m a twenty-something American dreamer with big goals. I live in our nation’s capital, I am a volunteer for the United Services Organization and Luke’s Wings, and I am a Miss America hopeful.
Along with that…
I’m a first-generation American, born to two incredible immigrants from the Philippines, and I’m part of a gigantic, supportive, funky, and altogether amazing family. I’m a girly girl – an alum of the Delta Zeta sorority and a former competitive ice skater and ballerina. I love fashion, romantic comedies, royalty, makeup, weddings, and the Miss America Organization. I’m a big supporter of the arts as a classically trained pianist who spent a considerable amount of time playing with the karaoke machine and hopping around to see original Monet water lilies. I’m a volunteer dedicated to serving others, whether it be mentoring elementary or middle-school students or spreading the word about the United Services Organization, bone marrow donation, and the Children’s Miracle Network. I’m a daughter of God, forever grateful for the many blessings in my life.
But if you’re looking for the elevator speech, I’m a Communications Consultant by day, contributing writer to local online magazines K Street Kate and DC Ladies by night. I’m also a graduate student at Georgetown.
With my own busy and hectic schedule (isn’t that normal to daily life in America today as we chase after our dreams?), I find it so important to step back and count the blessings. Otherwise, it’s easy to miss the moments when the dream becomes reality. I hope that my thoughts and musings of the little things I’m grateful for help you to find what you’re grateful for. And I hope that maybe I’ll help you along your journey to your own dreams.
